Joint WTO-EIF conversation on gender and women economic empowerment

Time: 10:00-11:30

Location: Room S2, World Trade Organization

In the wake of International Women's Day 2024 and with the 68th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women ongoing at the United Nations in New York, we are pleased to invite you to a joint conversation on gender and women economic empowerment hosted by the WTO's Trade and Gender Office and the Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF). The event is scheduled for Tuesday, 26 March 2024, from 10:00 to 11:30 Geneva time

The WTO's Trade and Gender Office will take this opportunity and provide an update on recent developments on trade and gender at the WTO. In particular, it will outline the three member-led outcomes on trade and gender equality launched and adopted at the WTO 13th Ministerial Conference, which has become a key milestone in moving the work of the Informal Working Group on Trade and Gender forward. It will also present some recent research work that has been published in 2023 on trade policy as well as the key items of its work programme for 2024-2025.

The EIF will showcase results and lessons drawn from the least developed countries (LDCs) and partners through the EIF's Empower Women, Power Trade Initiative, with a presentation of a review of this initiative as well as some project highlights from the EIF's work in the LDCs.

The conversation will be moderated by H.E. Ms Nina Tornberg, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sweden to the WTO.

Detailed information regarding the event's agenda will be shared closer to the event date.
